1973 Rickenbacker 4001 Fretless Bass JetGlo with Checkerboard Binding
Vintage Rickenbacker 4001 bass built in January of 1973 (Serial # MA008) features their iconic bass design with Jet-Glo finish and Checkerboard binding. Neck thru construction. Bound fretless rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays and side binding position markers. Two pickups with 2 Volume and 2 Tone controls and selector switch. Wired for Rick-O-Sound and mono outputs. Grover tuning machines. Hard-shell case.
Instrument is in EXCELLENT CONDITION with no serious cosmetic issues. It is a 50 year old black guitar so there is some normal wear and a few scratches but it is amazing that it is in this condition after so many years. There is a faint hint of wear from strings from sometime in its past (possibly roundwounds?) but it is currently strung with flatwounds. The only thing missing is the pickup cover (not unusual). Electronics are all original and fully functioning. The Rick-O-Sound jack is notoriously temperamental and can ground out if the jack is not properly positioned. Comes with hard-shell case.
