“It’s been a dream of mine for years to design a guitar that includes some of my favorite vintage specifications but with a modern spirit and aesthetic. After two years of study and refinement, the Silver Sky is my vision of what a reboot of the electric guitar should look and feel like.”– John Mayer
Based off of Mayer and Smith's favorite elements from 1963 and 1964 vintage instruments, the Silver Sky is an idealized and modern version of a vintage single-coil guitar with an attention to detail. Features include PRS's trademark headstock shape but inverted to make staying in tune easier, vintage-style closed-back tuners with PRS's locking design, neck shape modeled after 1963/1964 vintage instruments, 7.25" radius fretboard, and classic design steel tremolo with PRS's trem arm and Gen III knife-edge screws. The bridge on the Silver Sky is flush to the body of the guitar in neutral position so that the tremolo bridge only goes down in pitch, this improves the signal to noise ratio of the single-coil pickups. The Silver Sky also features 635JM single-coil pickups which are very round and full, a bone nut, a molded metal jack plate that is curved for hassle-free plugging and unplugging, retooled knobs, PRS's double action truss rod, and slightly smaller fretwire than what you'd find on most PRS electric guitars. Comes with a premium gig bag.
